CP-PAW Download
The CP-PAW code is distributed by Clausthal University of
Technology. You require a valid license to use the code.
We charge a reasonable fee to profit organization and a
small fee to non-profit organizations. The intention is
to generate some income for further developments.
You can apply for a licence by filling the form below. We will
send a license agreement and an invoice. You may view the
license agreement below before entering the application process.
Once this is settled, you will receive the data to enter our
download page.
If you have problems send an email to Peter

- License fees
- Universities: 200 Euro/year+tax
- Non-profit research organisations
(Nat'l labs etc.): 600 Euro/year +tax
- Other (Companies etc): Conditions will be
negotiated individually
Comments:
- Added value tax(Mehrwertsteuer):
- Licensee organization is located in Germany:
Added-value tax (Mehrwehrtsteuer) in Germany is 19 %.
The amount will be added to the invoice.
- Licensee organization is located in an EU country other
than Germany:
(under construction)
- Licensee organization is located in a non-EU country:
(under construction ...) will be responsible to pay the
corresponding local taxes of your home country.
- The licensing model for academic users follows the model of the
Wien2K code. The main difference is that we charge a yearly fee,
instead of charging for major revisions. Everybody is concerned about
limited licenses. It is not our intent to exclude anybody from using
the CP-PAW code. The idea behind our licensing model is that after a
few years the development has gone so far that it is very
recommendable to use a new version. With our model, we can give you
continuous access to our development through our web page and we can
offer flexibility regarding the amount of money spent because the
duration of the licence is flexible. (Payment is still per contract.)
We do not plan to distinguish major revisions, so that the users always
have access to the newest version..
- Licensing model "Non-profit research organizations": The distinction
between research organizations and "Other" is often not clear cut. We draw the
line along whether it is public research or not. If the results of the
research are proprietary or if the results are typically not published, then
an institution does not qualify for licensing according to "Non-profit
research organizations". In case of doubt select "Other".
- The term "derivative works" always creates confusion. If
something that you have written is mingled with code from CP-PAW, the
source code is derivative works. If you link your code with
subroutines from CP-PAW, the executable is also derivative work. If
you take out the code that you have written and use it for something
else, it is not derivative work but new code. The contract avoids
that our freedom of action is limited after someone modified the
code or added something to the code. On the other hand we do not
intend to exclude anyone from doing with his own code whatever he
wants. This is important so that a larger developer-base can be built.
