            The university lies ontop the
Harz mountains, the highest mountain range in northern Germany. The Harz
lies in the heart of germany, just south of the plane of northern germany.
            Clausthal-Zellerfeld
developed as mining town. Today it hosts the university and lives from
tourism. The next larger city is Goslar.
Goslar has a long and important history, which developed in the middle ages
due to silver mines in the
Rammelsberg. This was the time when the german emperors stayed in Goslar.
The medieval center of the city with beautifully carved and painted half-timbered
houses is almost fully preserved. This is why Goslar was named world culture
            heritage by the Unesco.
